Step 1

Apply a base of Snazaroo Sparkle White using a damp Snazaroo high density sponge. Cover the whole face as shown.

Using Snazaroo Sparkle Turquoise on a damp sponge, apply liberally to the areas of the face as shown here.

Step 2

Dab a little Snazaroo Electric Gold around the face to create a watery type scene.

With a slightly damp sponge repeat with Snazaroo White.

This will create a watery bubble effect for the background.

Step 3

Build up Snazaroo Dark Grey onto a Snazaroo medium multi purpose brush.

Press the side of the brush straight onto the face as shown to create a Dolphin snout.

Step 4

Still using the multi purpose brush, half way down the snout create the body in a comma type motion.

Round off to a tail as shown then add the fin.

Step 5

Paint a second Dolphin on the other side of the face. This Dolphin is swimming down so put your first brush mark on the cheek to create the second Dolphins snout.

Complete the Dolphin as in the previous step.

Step 6

Now add the detail to both the Dolphins. Using Snazaroo White paint on a Snazaroo fine round brush, paint the Dolphins belly.

Finish the lower jaws of the Dolphins mouth with Snazaroo Dark Grey paint using a Snazaroo fine round brush.

Add in the last fin with the same Dark Grey as shown.

Step 7

Using Snazaroo Dark Green on a fine round brush add some Seaweed.

Highlight the seaweed with Snazaroo White paint on a fine round brush.

Finish the detail on the Dolphins with a fine round brush loaded with Black.

Step 8

Apply Snazaroo Sparkle Orange to a Snazaroo medium multi purpose brush. Place the side of the brush bristles directly onto the face to create fish as shown.

With a fine round brush loaded with Snazaroo Pale Yellow, highlight the under belly of each fish.

Add an eye and a fin with the fine round brush loaded with Black paint.

Apply Snazaroo  Electric Gold to the lips to complete the design. Use a Gold lipstick if you prefer.

Painting Tips

Before loading your Face Painting sponge with Snazaroo paint, ensure that the sponge is damp but not wet. Build the Snazaroo colour into the sponge to create a rich creamy texture. Never over wet the sponge or you will find you get a streaky uneven finish.

When using a thin fine line brush for detail, always build the colour into the brush and upto the tip. This is especially true when applying Black lines and detail to your design.

Cut a round face sponge into quarters to create smaller patterns such as spots and triangles.

If you are going to try and replicate this design for a number of children and want them all to be as similar as possible, enlist some help and asign each volunteer one face painting stage. Have the children move down the "production line" in turn and voila! - cloned faces for your party or production. This is a great idea for school events, carnivals and large parties.
