DISNEY CARS PARTY TIPS

Invitations

  • Racing Flag Invite - Create a black and white chequered flag and put all the party details on the back. You could put something along the line of "Race on Over"
  • Use small toy cars and attach a tag to them with all your party details on.
  • Alternatively, if time is short, you may prefer our preprinted Disney Cars party invites.

Food and Preparation

  • You've enough to do on the day so why not prepare the food in advance and serve in handy colour co-coordinated Food Boxes to match your theme. Disney Cars stickers can be used to decorate your food boxes, get the party boy or girl involved this is a job they'll love to do. If it's hot food you want and on the quick, you can take your pre-prepared food boxes to a local Fish n' Chip shop and have them deliver your order.
  • Alternatively create your own fast food treats.

Traffic Light Jelly - 3 circular jellies in Red, Orange and Green

Race Car Sandwiches - Use a pastry cutter in the shape of a car

Décor

  • Have guests follow an aisle of orange cones to your front door where they can then walk through an arch of balloons in race track colours i.e. black and white. Alternatively you may prefer to use latex Disney Cars party balloons.
  • Decorate the party area and enhance the theme with a Disney Cars Letter Banner, Flag Banner and a Disney Cars foil balloon or two.
  • Create a chequered flag to hang over the front door. This can also be used during the party by waving the flag to speed up, slow and finish games in true racing car style. To save time you may prefer a ready made chequered flag.
  • Use tablecloths, napkins, balloons and other decorative items such as streamers in racing colours like black, white and red. You can also look for Disney Cars Party Plates, Cups and Balloons that carry images of Disney Cars on them.
  • For a memorable party experience, create a spectacular backdrop by decorating your room with scene setter add-ons and Room Rolls.

You can transform your room into a racing desert fit for any budding Jenson Button!

A Disney Cars desert Room roll can be used to create one hugh 21ft x 8ft scene and they can be easily cut with scissors to fit the shape of your room.

The desert printed design is on plastic sheeting and is simply secured to the wall using a small amount of tack or double side sticky tape on the corners.

For extra realism, you can bring the scene alive with your choice of Scene Decoration add-ons.

For small spaces you may prefer to use the add-ons on their own by simply attaching to the walls in the same way as the Room Rolls.

Things to do

  • Before the party ask the parents of the children for a small photo of the child. Create a fake drivers license for each child. Laminate and attach them to a lanyard (cord around the neck).
  • Race car cookie decorating - Give each child a home-made race car shaped cookie and let them decorate it. Have a selection of different coloured icing and toppings for them to use.
  • Present each guest with a Disney Cars head bands when they arrive at the party.
  • If you have a lot of guests why not give them each a name badge. Draw the shape of a racing car onto a plain label using a black or red marker pen. This idea is both effective and cost effective. It will also keep your sanity during the games!

  • Pinata - If you've got time you can make your own Pinata. It's easy to do - simply layer strips of wet newspaper over a balloon leaving a small hole in the back. Allow to dry and repeat the process several times. Pop the balloon and stuff your Pinata with sweets and toys. Decorate in Disney Cars colours and hang from a piece of string. Children takes turns to bash the Pinata with a stick whilst blindfolded to release the prizes from within. This is a really fun party game but does take a bit of time and patience and an interest in arts and craft. Alternatively you may prefer to stuff a ready made Plain pull string Pinata. Pull string Pinatas are particularly ideal for younger children in your party.

DISNEY CARS PARTY GAMES

To keep a party going, it’s always advisable to have a numerous supply of activities planned as the playing time of each game often far exceeds the time spent in planning them.

Keep the children busy - here are 10 of our favourites….

1. Mater Says

An adult or the birthday child is Mater at first. Mater faces the rest of the group, who stand where they can see Mater well. Mater gives commands for the children to follow such as "Mater says...Clap your hands" or "Mater says...Kick your feet". The children are to obey only those commands that begin with the words "Mater says". If the command does not begin with these words (for example "Jump up and down") the players should ignore it. Anyone who does it is out.

2. Follow Lightning

Get the children to follow a leader (maybe start with an adult to get the ball rolling). The children have to follow whatever the leader does as they move around. Suggestions: hopping, hands on head, jumping, running, skipping, silly walks, turning round, waving arms, being an animal, being a posh person etc.

3. Lightning, Lightning, McQueen

Get all the children to sit in a circle. Choose one child to be "it". This child should then walk around the circle tapping the other children on the shoulder or head saying either "Lightning" or "McQueen". If the child taps someone and says "McQueen" the child that has been tapped must get up and chase the child that is "it". If the child who is "it" gets the whole way round the circle and sits in the other space without being caught, the child who is McQueen then becomes "it".

4. Red Light, Green Light

One person is chosen to be the Race Official. They stand at one end of the room or garden facing the wall or fence. All the other players are racers and line up at the other end of the garden. When the Race Official says "Green Light" all the racers need to start moving (not run unless you use a field) towards the Race Official. At any time the Race Official can say "Red Light" and turn around. If he catches anyone moving they are out. Play resumes when the Race Official turns back to the wall and says "Green Light". The Race Official wins if all the racers are out before anyone touches him/her. If one of the racers touches the Race Official before being caught then that person wins.

5. Tyre Beanbag toss

Give the children a few beanbags each. Get them to throw the beanbags through a suspended tyre.

6. Emergency Brake

The music is started and the kids must dance. When the music stops the kids must stand perfectly still. If any of them move noticeably they go out, judged by the person playing the music. If you can't decide then just play another round. Having two or three adults watching is better and they have to agree who goes out. If the last two or three kids are identical for 3 rounds at the end of the game then they all win. More leeway should be given to the little ones.

7. Winner in last place

Get all the children to sit in a circle. Pass a small toy race car around the circle to the music. When the music stops whoever is holding the car is out. The person left at the end is the winner.

8. Change the tyre

Each player takes it in turns to be blindfolded and is given a "tyre" with his/her name on it. With lots of encouragement from the other players the blindfolded player locates the picture and places the tyre on the picture. Leave all the tyres on the picture until everyone has has their turn. The winner is the person who gets closest to the correct place.

9. Musical pit stop

Arrange the chairs in two lines back to back (make sure you have one chair for each child playing). When the music starts the children must walk around the chairs. When the music stops the children must sit on a chair. Start the music again and get the children to walk around again. Remove one chair. Stop the music and the child left without a chair is out. The game continues by removing one chair each time until just one chair remains. The winner is the child who sits in the last chair.

10. Cars in the Garage

All the children lie down on the floor with their eyes closed as if they were sleeping. One or two of the adults can be Mater. They must move around the "sleeping cars" and encourage them to wake (move, laugh and giggle). They cannot touch the cars but they can move close and tell jokes. Any car that wakes can join Mater in trying to wake the others. The last car to wake is the winner.

Prizes - If you want to give away some prizes for your Disney Cars party you should be able to find some theme related Disney Cars stampers, bubbles, yo-yos or slide puzzles, something that the kids will be able to do while home.

Party Favours

  • Give out racing certificates along with their fake licences
  • Alternatively, use our Disney Cars Party Bags and either fill with your selection of party bag fillers or purchase them readily pre-filled.
