Food and Preparation

  • You've enough to do on the day so why not prepare the food in advance and serve in handy colour co-coordinated Food Boxes to match your theme. Flower stickers can be used to decorate your food boxes, get the birthday girl involved this is a job she'll love to do. If it's hot food you want and on the quick, you can take your pre-prepared food boxes to a local Fish n' Chip shop and have them deliver your order.
  • Alternatively create your own garden party feast!
    • Giant caterpillar sandwiches - Using French sticks, create one long sandwich. Use carrot sticks for legs and cherry tomatoes for the eyes.
    • Cut sandwiches with a flower shaped pastry cutter
    • Lollipop flowers with green stems and lollipops
    • Ladybug fruit treats - For each one, cut a standard red apple in half and remove the core and seeds. Push chocolate chips point-first into the apple's skin to make the ladybug's spots. Serve each ladybug on a leaf of lettuce.
    • Dirt sundaes - Serve chocolate ice cream with cookies crumpled on top. Add to the fun by serving the ice cream in small flower pots (lined with foil or grease proof paper), and purchase miniature shovels from a local craft store to use as spoons.

Décor

  • A great idea for a Fifi themed party is a Garden party. Although this idea is best for birthdays that fall in the warmer months, if you don't mind a bit of mess, you could always bring the garden inside for those colder days.
  • Use Fifi and the Flowertots party tablecovers, napkins, balloons and other decorative items such as streamers in bright pink, green, yellow and blue colours. You can also look for Fifi and the Flowertots Party Plates, Cups and Balloons that carry images of Fifi on them.
  • Decorate the party area using Fifi birthday banners and themed Fifi foil balloons.
  • Hang streamers in various shades of green plus flowers (real or fake) which are hung on clear fishing line. Intertwine these with hanging butterflies and bugs.
  • Scatter real or fake flowers across the table
  • Fill the party area with hugh tissue paper flowers.

Things to do

  • Make ladybugs - Select several half-circle shaped rocks from your garden or purchase stones from a craft store. Before the party paint the rocks red. Give each child a rock and a black permanent marker. Have the children add spots and faces to make ladybug decorations for the party table. Write your guests initials on the bottom of their ladybugs so that they can find their critters to take home at the end of the party.
  • Decorate flowerpots - Before the party paint two flowerpots (one large and one small) per child with white spray paint. On the day let the children decorate their pots with finger paints, ribbon, silk flowers, confetti, glitter, beads, pipe cleaners, sequins and stickers. When the decorating is complete, take the large pot and fill with party favors ready for handing out to each child at the end of the party.
  • Plant seeds - Using the small decorated pot, allow the children to plant their own seeds into their decorated pot. You will require a selection of seeds and some soil for this task.
  • Ask an adult to dress up as Fifi to give out the favors at the end of the party. You can take a photo of each guest with Fifi as they receive their favor bag and send it to them with the thank you notes.

  • Pinata - If you've got time you can make your own Pinata. It's easy to do - simply layer strips of wet newspaper over a balloon leaving a small hole in the back. Allow to dry and repeat the process several times. Pop the balloon and stuff your Pinata with sweets and toys. Decorate in Fifi & the Flowertots Party colours and hang from a piece of string. Children takes turns to bash the Pinata with a stick whilst blindfolded to release the prizes from within. This is a really fun party game but does take a bit of time and patience and an interest in arts and craft. Alternatively you may prefer to stuff a ready made Pinata.

FIFI & THE FLOWERTOTS PARTY GAMES

To keep a party going, it’s always advisable to have a numerous supply of activities planned as the playing time of each game often far exceeds the time spent in planning them.

Keep the children busy - here are 10 of our favourites….

1. Flower, Flower, Weed

Get all the children to sit in a circle. Choose one child to be "it". This child should then walk around the circle tapping the other children on the shoulder or head saying either "Flower" or "Weed". If the child taps someone and says "Weed" the child that has been tapped must get up and chase the child that is "it". If the child who is "it" gets the whole way round the circle and sits in the other space without being caught, the child who is Weed then becomes "it".

2. Fifi says

An adult or the birthday child is Fifi at first. Fifi faces the rest of the group, who stand where they can see Fifi well. Fifi gives commands for the children to follow such as "Fifi says...Clap your hands" or "Fifi says...Kick your feet". The children are to obey only those commands that begin with the words "Fifi says". If the command does not begin with these words (for example "Jump up and down") the players should ignore it. Anyone who does it is out.

3. Follow Fifi

Get the children to follow a leader (maybe start with an adult to get the ball rolling). The children have to follow whatever the leader does as they move around. Suggestions: hopping, hands on head, jumping, running, skipping, silly walks, turning round, waving arms, being an animal, being a posh person etc.

4. Caterpillar race

Divide your guests into two teams. Line each team up one behind the other at a start line. Get each child to put his or her hands on the waist of the child in front thus forming a "caterpillar". When you say "wiggle", each team must wiggle their way to the finish line. If a team becomes disconnected they must stop and reconnect before continuing. The first team to cross the finish line wins.

5. Pin the petal on the Flower

Each player takes it in turns to be blindfolded and is given a "Petal" with his/her name on it. With lots of encouragement from the other players the blindfolded player locates the flower and places the Petal on the picture. Leave all the Petals on the picture until everyone has has their turn. The winner is the person who gets closest to the correct place.

6. Bee sting

Get all the children to sit in a circle. Pass a toy Bee around the circle to the music. When the music stops whoever is holding the Bee is out. The person left at the end is the winner.

7. Musical garden statues

The music is started and the kids must dance. When the music stops the kids must stand perfectly still. If any of them move noticeably they go out, judged by the person playing the music. If you can't decide then just play another round. Having two or three adults watching is better and they have to agree who goes out. If the last two or three kids are identical for 3 rounds at the end of the game then they all win. More leeway should be given to the little ones.

8. Pass the watering can

For this game you will need two watering cans. Put the children into two equal lines side by side and give the child at the front the watering can. On your mark, the child at the front needs to pass the watering can over his head to the next child who then passes it between his legs to the person behind who passes it over his head and so on. This continues until it gets to the person at the end of the line, who then races to the front and starts the process again. When all of the children in the line have had a turn of being at the front of the line, the entire team sits down. The first team to sit wins. For extra fun especially for older kids you may decide to fill the cans with water and award an extra prize for the team with the most amount of water left in their can at the end.

9. Fifi's flower toss

Have several garden items like buckets, flower pots and watering cans. Get the children to try and throw bean bags into the items from a stationery point (the same place for each child although leeway maybe given to smaller kids). Award different prizes for different targets and/or throwing distances.

10. Ladybug & Caterpillar hunt

Hide plastic caterpillars and ladybugs throughout the party area. Get the children to search for the bugs. The child who finds the most bugs gets a prize.

Prizes - If you want to give away some prizes for your Fifi & the Flowertots party you should be able to find some theme related Fifi and the Flowertots tiaras, colour books or bubbles, something that the kids will be able to do while home.

Party Favours

  • Use the large decorated flower pots and fill with a selection of garden party treats. Including their hand-made ladybugs and packets of seeds.
  • Alternatively, use our Fifi and the Flowertots Party Bags and either fill with your selection of party bag fillers or purchase them readily pre-filled.
