Décor

  • Use black wool or buy craft webs to create large spider webs in the party area and entrance. For extra realism hang plastic spiders in them.
  • Decorate the room using Spiderman Birthday Banners and an assortment of different balloons.
  • Use Spiderman party tablecovers, napkins, balloons and other decorative items such as streamers in Spiderman colours like red, black and blue. You can also look for Spiderman Party Plates and Balloons that carry images of Spiderman on them.

Things to do

Spiderman mask crafts - Give each child on arrival a plain Spiderman mask. Direct them to a designated craft area and let them decorate their own mask using crayons, pens, glitter, wool, stickers, confetti, feathers etc. Alternatively you can buy pre-prepared Spiderman Masks which the children can use for fancy dress.

Spiderman masks

  • Ask an adult to dress up as Spiderman to give out the favors at the end of the party. You can take a photo of each guest with Spiderman as they receive their favor bag and send it to them with the thank you notes.
  • Cartoons and Films - If your Spiderman party is for slightly older children, you can play the latest Spiderman film on DVD. For younger kids, why not run a few Spiderman cartoons.
  • Face Painting - To get everyone in the party mood, face painting is an excellent option. This can be done professionally or alternatively you can purchase a set of face paints. Spiderman is probably one of the easiest ones to do. The advantage of getting your own set of face paints is that the children can get involved in the activity, especially if you let them paint each others faces. It can get a bit messy but for a child's party it is an excellent activity.

SPIDERMAN PARTY GAMES

To keep a party going, it’s always advisable to have a numerous supply of activities planned as the playing time of each game often far exceeds the time spent in planning them.

Keep the children busy - here are 10 of our favourites….

1. Spiderman, Spiderman, Green Goblin

Get all the children to sit in a circle. Choose one child to be "it". This child should then walk around the circle tapping the other children on the shoulder or head saying either "Spiderman" or "Green Goblin". If the child taps someone and says "Green Goblin" the child that has been tapped must get up and chase the child that is "it". If the child who is "it" gets the whole way round the circle and sits in the other space without being caught, the child who is Green Goblin then becomes "it".

2. Stick the Spider on the Web

Each player takes it in turns to be blindfolded and is given a "Spider" with his/her name on it. With lots of encouragement from the other players the blindfolded player locates the Web and places the Spider on the picture. Leave all the Spiders on the picture until everyone has has their turn. The winner is the person who gets closest to the correct place.

3. Web Maze Game

Ask all the guests to stand in a circle. Instruct them to put their right hand in the middle and hold someone else's hand. Then instruct them to do the same with their left hand. Challenge them to untangle this "web" by ducking under and stepping over each other without breaking the web.

4. Spiderman throw game

Make a large felt web and hang it on a wall. Give all the children three velcro covered balls and hold a competition to see who can get their ball closest to the centre of the web.

5. Spider hunt

Hide plastic Spiders throughout the party area. Explain to the children that lots of Spiders have escaped from the lab and that they all need to be found. Get the children to search for the Spiders. The child who finds the most Spiders gets a prize.

6. Green Goblin freeze tag

Choose one child to be the Green Goblin. Line the other children up at one end of the room or garden. Players then need to run to the other end of the room or garden without being tagged by the Green Goblin. Children that do get tagged are frozen to the spot and become Green Goblin servants. As servants they have to help the Green Goblin tag the other players without leaving their spot. The game carries on until all the Spiderman have been caught. The last child to be tagged wins and becomes the next Green Goblin.

7. Spiderman says

An adult or the birthday child is Spiderman at first. Spiderman faces the rest of the group, who stand where they can see Spiderman well. Spiderman gives commands for the children to follow such as "Spiderman says...Clap your hands" or "Spiderman says...Kick your feet". The children are to obey only those commands that begin with the words "Spiderman says". If the command does not begin with these words (for example "Jump up and down") the players should ignore it. Anyone who does it is out.

8. Follow Spiderman

Get the children to follow a leader (maybe start with an adult to get the ball rolling). The children have to follow whatever the leader does as they move around. Suggestions: hopping, hands on head, jumping, running, skipping, silly walks, turning round, waving arms, being an animal, being a posh person etc.

9. Spiderman statues

The music is started and the kids must dance. When the music stops the kids must stand perfectly still. If any of them move noticeably they go out, judged by the person playing the music. If you can't decide then just play another round. Having two or three adults watching is better and they have to agree who goes out. If the last two or three kids are identical for 3 rounds at the end of the game then they all win. More leeway should be given to the little ones.

10. Spider bite

Get all the children to sit in a circle. Pass a toy Spider around the circle to the music. When the music stops whoever is holding the Spider is out. The person left at the end is the winner.

Prizes - If you want to give away some prizes for your Spiderman party you should be able to find some Spiderman related colour books, or bubbles, something that the kids will be able to do while home.

Party Favours

  • Create web bags by using black netting and tying at the top with black ribbon.
  • Alternatively, use our Spiderman Party Bags and either fill with your selection of party bag fillers or purchase them readily pre-filled.
