A Bratz Party for Boys?

Teasing others for our own personal amusement is a tradition with a long history in my family. My wife tries to discourage this behaviour with our children, but I must admit that I am not a good example. My son now eight, in particular, is quite fond of teasing his sister. She was planning a princess birthday party, and he started in on her about how he was going to hide all of her princess toys and replace them with Spiderman toys, so she would be forced to have a Spiderman party.   Fortunately for her, she recognized what he was doing, and gave it right back to him. She declared that she had talked with my wife and me, and got permission to make sure that his next birthday was a Bratz party. She thought for sure that all of his friends on his football team would love to come to his Bratz party.

He looked over at me, trying to deny his sister. I slowly nodded my head yes, and for the next several months we had a running joke about his Bratz birthday. Even my wife got in on the act, suggesting that we give all the football boys Bratz purses.

Even my wife got in on the act, suggesting that we give all the football boys Bratz purses.   I think as his birthday drew nearer, some of this talk may have gotten to him. He came home from school one Friday and demanded that I sit with him at the computer and do a search for Bratz. It seemed that due to high demand following the film release stores everywhere were experiencing stock shortages.

Feeling quite smug, he laughed and said, "now what are you going to do for my birthday?" I shook my head and agreed that this was tragic news. Fortunately, I explained, his mother had the foresight to stock up on Bratz products before the film had been released, and the party could go on!
