With deep, resonating, heavy footsteps, a mighty beast rears its head and roars.

Yes, Jurassic World is stomping its way into the record books, this week managing to overtake The Avengers as the third biggest box office earner of all time.

This little dinosaur theme park has so far clawed in over $1.522 billion. (If you’re interested, Titanic is in second place with $2.19 billion and the highest grossing movie of all time is Avatar at $2.79 billion.) That'd buy a whole mountain of birthday cakes!

Aside from generating billions of dollars, the film has also generated a flurry of memes, based on the iconic Chris Pratt pose with the raptors. Here are three of our favourite replica raptor pose photographs from around the interwebs!

Who imagined back in 1993 (yes, 22 years ago!) when the first brachiosaurus wandered across the screen that we'd still be gaping in astonishment at these same beasts. Mind you, with a new Star Wars film out in the same year as J a Jurassic Park movie, and a Terminator movie, some people are scratching their heads wondering exactly what year it is!

Talking of years, with many children now becoming ardent fans of the Jurassic Park franchise, fuelling their innate love of huge monsters with large teeth, dinosaur themed birthday cakes are especially popular right now. If you have a budding Alan Grant or Ellie Sattler with a birthday coming up then you may like to take a look at a selection of some of our bestselling dinosaur birthday cakes.
