The best part of a Cinco de Mayo party is the food and the family. Make sure that you have plenty of plates, cups, and napkins because with all of the incredible foods that you can make , you're going to want to be able to go back for seconds, thirds, or more. Enchilada's, tacos, nachos, seven layer bean dip, burritos; it's making my mouth water just thinking about it. Keep a bucket with ice on hand for all of your drinks, and include enough for a long night of fun and festivities.
Pinatas are an essential part of a Cinco de Mayo party. Several small toys and sweets are a great way to stuff the pinata. Make sure that you get a decorative blindfold as well as a basher so that you can play the game. You can also get pull string pinatas, a variation on the game that does not need a basher. You just pull the stings one at a time and one of them will set off the piñata, breaking it open.
Make sure to decorate with bright colours. Get party supplies like streamers and balloons in matching red, white, and blue and cover your house. It will soon be a nice time of year to be venturing outside so you can hang all of your decorations in the porch, along with outdoor lights, for a great early summer look. Make sure that you prepare for adverse weather, allowing for a quick move inside if necessary since this time of year can be very unpredictable. You'll want to set up long family style table (indoors) for your dinner so that family and friends can join together to enjoy the speciality dishes created especially for the Cinco de Mayo party.
