Trying to come up with an idea for a pre-school children's birthday party? Why not decide to have a space birthday party? Almost all children love the idea of space travel, and if you have a child who is a budding astronaut then there is nothing they would love more.

For starters, you can send out birthday invitations with your child that invites their friends to come to a new galaxy for a party extraordinaire. To prepare your home, you will want to get some latex balloons or star foil balloons to decorate with. You might consider getting an assorted colour pack of latex balloons and then you can tape them on to the ceiling to represent the nine planets in our solar system. If that sounds a bit lame, you can always use star cutouts but don't forget, very small children have vivid imaginations so you needn't worry too much about the finer details.

For games, you can separate the children by assigning planet names to each group and then planning activities such as a scavenger hunt throughout the universe. For the winning team, you will want to have a few special treats like maybe astronaut ice cream which also makes a great gift to place in your party bags.

Of course, every Space themed children's birthday party needs a cake, so you may consider heading online to order a custom made cake in the shape of the earth or maybe a space shuttle. How about an R2D2 Cake for Star Wars Fans? When it comes time to make a wish when blowing out the candles, your little astronaut will no doubt be wishing for a party just as exciting for his next birthday!
