Having a party on a hot summer's day? Need something that will compliment that beautiful cake you have? A perfect summer party drink is a nice old fashioned chocolate milkshake. And it just so happens that they are incredibly easy to make.

It really doesn't take a lot of time or effort to make a cold frothy chocolate milkshake. Make sure that you have your supplies ready, and keep them frozen or chilled until you need them. I recommend that you make the shakes to order, to make sure that they don't get too watery by the time your guest gets them.

Since it only takes a couple of minutes from start to finish, you should have no problem keeping up with the orders, as long as you have enough supplies. All you need is chocolate or vanilla ice cream, milk, and chocolate syrup, as well as a blender to mix it in, whipped cream for the top, and no shake would be complete without straws to slurp it up with.

Put all of your ingredients into the blender, about a cup of ice cream, 1/2 cup of milk, and chocolate syrup to taste for about two shakes, and blend them until the consistency you want. For thicker shakes, use more ice cream and less milk and just the opposite if you want a thinner party drink.

You can also add in chocolate sprinkles, chunks of cookies, or other toppings like bits of favourite chocolate bars if you want to add a little more flavour to your party drinks.

We recently visited a milkshake bar serving all kinds of weird and wonderful concoctions. I had a double Decker shake, and the kids has a milkybar white chocolate milk shake each. I must say that they tasted absolutely delicious! It was just a regular chocolate milkshake but the bar of chocolate all chopped up and mixed in the blender added a fourth flavour dimension to this heavenly experience. I must say they were very rich and filling and they weren't cheap either. I think at home is probably the best and most economical way to work out how to make the best chocolate milkshake recipes, and what better environment to do it in than a party atmosphere. Next time I'm going for Lindt chocolates or maybe even a huge spoon full of  nutella in mine!
