Party food is typically something that the host may spend more than just a little time worrying about. Since there are normally several people invited to the party, it may seem impossible to think of something that everyone will like. However, to make the perfect party sandwich, you really don't have to rack your brain.
My wedding is a day that I will always remember, it was absolutely perfect. We had hired a caterer to take on the responsibility of feeding our guests since it was stressful enough without worrying about making other people happy. It was the best decision we could have made.
Now, three years later, anyone that was there remembers one thing above anything else. The sandwiches were incredible. And actually, thinking about, they were also incredibly simple. Party food can be simple, in fact should be simple, because the more ingredients and toppings, the more likely that more people will not care for it, especially if you’re throwing a party for children.
You need to stick to foods that are easily recognisable, such as turkey, chicken, and beef, but you may need to consider providing a vegetarian option too. Also, keep it small. Our sandwiches were actually not sandwiches at all but small crescent rolls, soft and warm right from the oven. If you make the sandwiches small, than people can try different varieties and keep going back for more.
You may want to consider keeping the rolls and fresh fillings on the side, allowing everyone to dress their party food the way that they want it. Not only does it make it easier for you since you don't have to make hundreds of little sandwiches, but then people will have their food exactly as they like it. A fresh deli with a large array of beautifully presented salad, crudities, meats cheeses and home made fillings like coronation chicken and freshly made egg mayo will go down a treat. Try a variety a breads, roll and wraps for your guests to choose from.
You can spruce up your buffet styled sandwich bar with fancy containers for the toppers and fun spreaders, flat knives that can have fun designs or characters on the handle.
Just make sure that your ingredients are fresh and that your bread is soft and make sure that you have plenty of everything. You can purchase food boxes to let your guests take the extras home if you're worried that you have too much since it's better to have too much than run out early doors.
