Winter Cocktail Recipes To Warm The Soul

During the cold winter weather, as you gaze out at mounds of snow parked where your car used to be, skating your way to work or school, or donning at least three coats in defence against the sub zero temperatures, it might well be helpful to think about a few cocktails which will warm the cockles of your heart, or indeed any other places where the cold is making its presence felt.

So here, in an effort to combine cold weather, nippy nether parts and alcohol, we present a few well chosen cocktail recipes for you to try out, inflict on your friends and family, or enjoy quietly by a roaring fire as you gaze out at those people huddled up against the inclement weather.

Perhaps one of the most aptly named cocktail recipes, and a traditional favourite at this time of the year, a snowball is not only a delicious cocktail, but one designed to inject a little fire into you, helping to brighten your evening. Or afternoon. Or indeed morning, if you're into that sort of thing. To make a snowball you need three ingredients: - 3/4 oz brandy - 3/4 oz peppermint schnapps - 3/4 oz white crème de cacao First, fill a mixing glass with ice, and then add all of the ingredients. Then shake well (which itself will help warm you up), and finally strain into a shot glass.

This blue, creamy cocktail looks very distinctive, and is absolutely delicious. To make a frostbite you will need 5 ingredients: - 1 1/2 oz tequila - 1/2 oz white crème de cacao - 1/2 oz blue curaçao - 1/2 oz cream - Maraschino cherry for garnish First, pour all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with some ice, then shake very well. Next, strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Whispers Of The Frost

Perhaps the cocktail with the most interesting name, it's extremely easy to make, and offers an unusual combination of both whiskey and port. It's not a cocktail you find in many places, but it well worth a try on a cold winter's day. To make a Whispers of the Frost you will need five ingredients: - 1 1/2 oz whiskey - 1 1/2 oz sherry - 1 1/2 oz port - 1 teaspoon sugar - Almost any fruit for garnish To begin with put some ice into a wine goblet, and then pour over the whiskey, sherry and port. Add a little sugar to taste, and then stir gently. Finally, add whatever fruit comes to hand as a garnish (except perhaps a tomato.. assuming that is a fruit?)

Irish Winter

I don't think a collection of favourite winter cocktails could possibly be complete without a traditional Irish Winter. Just from the name you probably suspect it is going to include whiskey and coffee, and you're right. To make an Irish winter you'll simply need four ingredients: - 1 part Kahlúa Coffee Cream - 1 part Jameson Irish Whiskey - Freshly brewed coffee - Whipped cream (for garnish) Sounds good already doesn't it? To make this cocktail all you'll need to do is to combine all of the ingredients into a mug, or an Irish coffee glass if you have one, and then stir gently to combine them all. Finally, add the whipped cream on top for the garnish. This one will wake you up, warm you up and put you to sleep all in one go.
