Over the next few months I'll be taking a look at Top Restaurants around the world as recommended by people who have actually eaten there. Restaurants are a great place to host a party, maybe for a birthday or a special celebration. It seems only fitting therefore to be able to offer first hand knowledge and help to others who are thinking of planning a memorable party event at any internationally famous top restaurant.
We are looking for your Experiences of Top Restaurants around the world from London to Singapore. If you have been fortunate enough to eat at a fantastic restaurant that you would recommend to others for a special celebration or party then let us know. No reports of rubbish restaurants please, just first hand experience of top restaurants that you would personally endorse and would return to again if ever you had the opportunity. By the way, it doesn't have to be an internationally renowned restaurant, we are looking for your top restaurant, so anything from Nola's in the French Quarter of New Orleans to the little un recognized Jewel in the crown up the side street of The Mews in Southend-on sea.
Resturant Review - La Petite Maison
For the most elegant, memorable and exquisite dinner party for a small group of friends, I can think of no better place than La Petite Maison in Nice, France. Obviously the words "small group" and "friends" are very meaningful here as this will be for most people, the experience of a lifetime. A party such as this will only happen occasionally at best, but if you can swing it financially it is a must do endeavour.
The restaurant is located just off the Promenade des Anglais, at eleven Rue St. Francois-De-Paule, they open at six thirty and close at eleven and it’s becoming popular so get a reservation as far in advance as you can. Their shell-fish and their fish dishes are exquisite but their sea bass is to die for. I recommend the table diagonally to your right as you walk in the door located in the far corner; it has an excellent view of the goings on outside and as with most of France you are under no obligation to "get in and out quickly" so stay and savour the experience.
A little secret most tourists won't know is that at least one waiter will speak passable English and I have never had a problem with French petulance anywhere in Nice. Your excursion to the worlds best dinner party will need a stay over of at least one night, so I highly recommend the Negresco hotel just a few blocks west at 37 Promenade Des Angles. This is probably out of reach for most but if it isn’t, you will be host to a dinner party that will be almost impossible to beat.
